A model unit with local flavour for Mellem Ville-Marie - Let's take a tour!

As you no doubt already know, we like to add local flavour to everything at Mellem. That means working with homegrown businesses when the time came to build the model unit for our Ville-Marie project!

Sustainable development

Beyond the benefit of sourcing our ideas to craftspeople that are near and dear to us (as corny as that might sound), it’s our way to show our commitment to building spaces that can do some good to both the people who inhabit them and our planet. Everybody wins with custom work!

“When designing the Mellem Ville-Marie model unit with our team, we quickly decided to prioritize homegrown brands and artisans that showcase local know-how. That intent is reflected throughout the project!“

You don’t have to look very far to find contemporary products that reflect Mellem’s spirit. In Quebec, we’re lucky to have access to a ton of artisans and manufacturers at the tippy top of their respective expertise, with products that seem like they’re made to end up in our spaces! Let’s make you feel right at home.

When you enter the main living area, you’re immediately overwhelmed by a calming vibe thanks to the abundance of natural and organic tones adorning the wallpaper made at Montréal-based Artza&Co's workshops in Rosemont–Petite-Patrie. Bathed in light, the kitchen opens onto a dining room where your friends will love gathering for feasts. This is where we find the unit’s centrepiece: an imposing black concrete table showcasing round shapes that set the tone. Handcrafted by the artisans at Béton Johnstone's Granby studio, it adds prestige and character to the room. Your in-laws won’t soon forget the next time you invite them over!

Details that make a difference

  • From the open kitchen to the living room and its custom-made modern,

  • To the inviting wallpaper in the office space and dining area,

  • To the bedroom and its original wall art,

  • And finally in the living room and its geometric carpet that balances out the furniture.

After a lively meal, there’s nothing better than relaxing on the sofa featuring a rugged pine frame made by élément de base, a local company whose interchangeable covers underscore its sustainable approach. It’s the perfect spot from which to admire the geometric carpet at your feet. Designed specifically for the model unit by Maripier’s team and manufactured by Red Carpet & Rug, it ties the eclectic furniture together and significantly improves the living room’s acoustics for movie nights that give the local Cineplex a run for its money!

On the way to bed, the opaque blinds by C&M Textiles on the bedroom windows mean you’re in for a restorative night’s sleep. With over 70 years of extensive expertise in their field and locations in Montréal, Brossard, Laval and Ottawa, it was the perfect people-focused business for Mellem to collaborate with. That’s why you’ll also spot C&M Textiles products used for window dressing in all of the project’s units and common areas. Get ready for some peace of mind as soon as you move in!

“At a time when the environment is at the heart of our concerns, we chose timeless and durable products and materials that will pass the test of time. The rental units also feature many inclusions that we hope will make life easier for future tenants and cut down on excessive purchases. It’s those little things that make a big difference!"

Night owls will also appreciate the sconces by Luminaire Authentik showcasing organic designs that make it easy to enjoy a good book when the sun goes down. Their products designed and manufactured locally at their Cowansville workshop feature a bold look and quality materials that enhance the bedroom’s walls. We love them so much that we put other designs from the same company in a few common areas!

Local products throughout your space means you’ll be dreaming of Quebec’s homegrown talent all night long.
